The Story of F`eaw Part 4

Kelsie went to school on Monday feeling like she was on pretty good terms with Dick but she was still nervous about talking to him. She had no way out of going to school, she couldn't tell her 'mom' she was sick and she would die if she 'played hookey', so she was stuck. But, when she got to school she saw Dick and he was waiting for her. Before she could walk to him she was stopped by Cattanya. Cattanya said, "Hey I need to talk to you after school, its important." Then she was gone and Kelsie was in such a daze that she didn't hear a thing until Dick said something that caught Kelsie completely off guard.

Dick said, "Look ok, I get that we are going to disagree on some things but I don't want a fight to ruin our friendship so, can you forgive me for worrying about your well being?" He had a smile on his face when he said it. "And I may have someone more qualified to help you with your powers."

Kelsie was so surprised at what he had just told her that all she could do was smile back at him before the bell rang signaling for them to get to class. Kelsie was so happy if the bell wouldn't have rang she would have hugged him to death right then and there. Before they walked in the door Dick looked at Kelsie, still smiling, and said, "Meet me after school."

Kelsie finally got the will to talk as she said, "I can't I have to help a friend."

Before he could even say anything back they got swept apart by the sea of people and were both forced to go to class. But, after school Dick caught Kelsie right before she started to head to Cattanya and said, "Look I know what friendship means to you but this may be more important than that right now."

All Kelsie could think of in that moment was the look she saw in Cattanya's eyes this morning and she knew that this was more important than just friendship stuff so she told Dick, "Look, typically I would agree with you but, this I think is more important than anything that could help me with my powers. Tomorrow, after school, come and find me we'll talk about it then, ok?"

Kelsie didn't even give him a chance to respond before she turned and hurried towards Cattanya. She had looked very nervous all day and she didn't even change for gym and that made no since because Cattanya was one of the most athletic people Kelsie knew, besides herself that is. Really the outfit she was wearing that day didn't make any since either, she was wearing a long sleeve shirt and jeans with boots, yes granted Kelsie was wearing jeans and boots too but come on a long sleeved shirt.

Cattanya didn't even say anything, she just grabbed Kelsie's arm and started to pull Kelsie along with her until they were at her house. She dragged Kelsie up to her room and sat her down on her bed. Then she just looked at Kelsie and said, "You can keep a secret, right?"  

Kelsie was a little confused but said, ".......yes?"

She said, "good."

Then she pulled back one of her sleeves and Kelsie couldn't believe what she was seeing. She had FUR growing on her arms, real, actual, fur. Kelsie just sat there and stared at her arm. It seemed like Kelsie's reaction was exactly what she was expecting and started to talk, "Ya, I know, its really weird and it just popped up yesterday and it started to spread everywhere. She took off her boots to reveal her feet covered in fur and then she rolled up her pants and showed Kelsie that her legs were covered in fur. Kelsie started to look at the fur and noticed it kind of looked like the fur a tiger would have.

She finally could talk again and said, "What happened?" 

Cattanya said, "I don't know one day I'm a normal teen with normal problems the next I become tiger woman."

Kelsie could tell she was freaking out and now she understood why she has been acting so strange today. Then Kelsie looked her in the eye and said, "I have a secret to tell you too..."

It was about 4:30 when Robin's phone went off. He was in Mount Justice with the team training. He heard a ring and turned towards his bag and got his phone out. It was a text from Kelsie, she said that she had someone she wanted him to meet and for him to wear his costume and meet her at the abandoned area where they practiced. Robin texted back 'I'm in training right now, when do you need to meet?'

She texted back 'NOW'

Robin turned to his team and asked, "Who wants to go on a road trip?"

The team just looked at him with puzzled faces but no one objected. Five minutes later Robin and the team were at the abandoned place and looking around curiously, KF finally asked, "Why did we come here Rob?"

Robin just looked at his team and was just about to give him an explanation when F`eaw walked out from behind a stack of barrels and said, "Because I asked him to come, and I am very glad you did but did you have to bring them?"

Robin was just looking at her, she had a totally new outfit that he had never seen before and he answered her question with a question. 

He said, "When did you get the costume?"

F`eaw said, "I made it, how else would I get it but you didn't answer my question Rob."

Robin said, "Oh... I told you I was in training and I couldn't just run off."

F`eaw said, "Why not?"

Robin just smiled and said, "Well for one thing he would catch me if I tried to run anywhere," gesturing to Kid Flash.

F`eaw smiling said, "Oh just come on," gesturing for him to follow her but then said, "but could your friends stay here, this needs to stay on the low down....please?"

Robin said, "..ok?"

F`eaw turned around and started walking toward a building that only had one floor built and the rest was just the skeleton beams of a building that never got finished. Robin started to follow her when Kid Flash grabbed his arm and said, "Rob, what are you doing, who is she?"

Artemis said, "Oh come on you dolt, she obviously that girl from the warehouse, but I do have to agree that she doesn't seem that trust worthy."

Robin just looked at Artemis and said, "She's a friend and she hasn't told the world about you yet so have a little faith." 

Aqualad walked up to Robin, put a hand on his sholder, and said, "We trust you, just be careful."

Robin nodded.

F`eaw had turned back and said, "You coming or what?"

Robin replied, "Be right there." Then turned and said, "I'll be fine, besides you guys are here if anything happens."

F`eaw was leaning against the door opening when Robin finally walked over there. 

She said, "They don't trust me very much do they?"

Robin looked at her, smiled, and said, "They don't know you yet."

They both walked into the one floor building and stood near the doorway where the only light came through. 

F`eaw just looked at him and said, "Now don't freak out or jump to conclusions or anything ok?"

Robing nodded to her.

Then she stepped out of the light and said, "Its ok, I just brought a friend to help us but you have to come over here first ok, Cattanya?"

Robin had a look of surprise on his face as F`eaw brought Cattanya into the light. He immediately noticed how her skin was covered in fur and how she looked like a tiger but Cattanya took this the wrong way and stepped back into the darkness.

She said, "I told you they would be scared of me, I told you."

Robin immediately said, "No its just, I've only seen one other person in the whole world who looks like you."

Cattanya seemed to perk up and said, "Does that mean you can help me and make me normal again?"

Robin's face fell as he said, "No, but we can try to help you and maybe we could find a cure for this."

Cattanya seemed to be thinking it over and finally said, "Well, can you help me control it?"

Robin then turned to F`eaw and said, "Does she have powers like you?"

F`eaw looked back at him and said, "She has powers in a sense but not like mine, Cattanya can you show him what I mean?"

Cattonya said, "Sure."

Then she stepped out into the light and started to walk towards the door and said, "I'm going to need more room than this."

When she got outside she saw the rest of Young Justice and started to get nervous and when they saw her and just stared, she ran back into the building and hid behind F`eaw in the doorway and looking at the team she said, "Why are they here?"

F`eaw looked at her over her sholder. She was about to tell her when KF ran up to Robin and said, "Who is that?"

Robin looked at Cattanya and then back to KF and was about to say something when F`eaw interrupted him and said, "She asked me for help and I'm getting it for her but then you guys just stare at her like she's an alien or something and then you don't even ask her what her name is, sheesh."

F`eaw then turned around and said to Cattanya, "Its ok, they're friends to, they want to help you," then looked at KF with an angry face and said, "Isn't that right Kid Flash?"

Cattanya looked over at him and waited for his response. KF turned pink and said, "Sure why wouldn't we want to help you?" and smiled at Cattanya and she smiled at him as did F`eaw."

Then after F`eaw and Cattanya stepped out into the sun and away from the building KF whispered to Robin, "She's a little fiery don't you think?"

Robin just smiled at KF and said, "Ya, you don't know how much, and that's why you don't make her mad." 

Then Robin walked over to F`eaw and Cattanya and said, "So, Cattanya what can you do?"

She just stepped toward the wall of a skeleton building and started to climb a beam of the building and climbed all the way to the top then stepped into the skeleton building and jumped from beam to beam until she jumped to the ground and rolled to her feet. When she walked back to F`eaw and Robin, they and everybody else were staring at her in awe. F`eaw was the first to speak.

She said, "I didn't know you could do that."

Cattanya just smiled at her, then looked at the skeleton building and said, "Neither did I."

It was now Tuesday and the days just kept getting warmer but, Cattanya still had to wear long sleeved shirts and long pants. Kelsie felt bad for her but knowing that there wasn't much else she could do to help her she just hoped that Dick could ask Batman for help, or anybody that could help in any way. She waited for him that morning in front of the school and the second she saw him she ran to him and asked, "Can he help us or not?"

She was very worried that Dick would say no but instead he just said, "I haven't asked him yet."

Kelsie was confused and asked, "What do you mean you haven't asked, this is really important and you can't even mention it to him?"

Dick just shook his head and said, "It's not like that I haven't seen him since......I think it was maybe three or four nights ago when he left for the watch tower, he hasn't come back yet."

Kelsie felt bad for him and said, "I'm so sorry Dick I didn't know."

Dick just looked at her with a faint smile and said, "Its fine, comes with the job, right."

Now Kelsie smiled,

"Ya, I'm sure he'll be home soon and then we can get this figured out."

That's when the bell for first period rang and they had to go but they agreed that they would meet at lunch and figure out how to deal with their problem until Batman returned.......

After school Kelsie and Dick showed Cattanya where she could practice her powers. It was the same place they met the team and Cattanya showed off her powers. They were practicing for a little while when a gun shot rang out. Kelsie couldn't tell where it came from but she knew it was close. They all started getting quiet as they listened for another shot and when they heard it they all ran to a old building where the sound originated. Kelsie blew down the door and ran in with Dick and Cattanya at her back. Kelsie ran to the second floor and saw an old man laying in the corner, she ran over to him but when she did something hit the back of her head and for the second time this week she was out cold.
